Welcome to the website for the Carroll County Soup Kitchen. We are a non-profit, totally volunteer-run organization in Carrollton, Georgia.
To talk with someone about the Soup Kitchen, please call 770-214-5055. If you want to bring a group of volunteers, please contact the Soup Kitchen to schedule your group. We ask that groups be limited to 10 persons, and that volunteers be at least 15 years old. Groups should provide adult supervision. During Soup Kitchen Week in May, we had volunteers from Southwire, Paulding County 4-H, and many local churches. Thank you for volunteering at the Soup Kitchen!
The Soup Kitchen delivers sack lunches to shut-ins and serves a hot meal at the Soup Kitchen from 11 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday of the last full week of each month except December. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 until about 1:00 on Soup Kitchen Week. For safety and health purposes, please wear closed-toed shoes and either bring a ball cap or wear a hairnet that will be provided.
Thanks to a grant from walmart.com, lunch is now served on every Monday and every Thursday. There will be no sack lunches on the "extra" Mondays and Thursdays, but everyone is invited to come and enjoy BINGO from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., and a hot meal from 11 a.m. until noon. Because no sack lunches are prepared on the "extra" Mondays and Thursdays, only about 12 volunteers are needed.
With the additional days for lunch, the Soup Kitchen is going to concentrate on what we do best--serving hot meals! If you are in need of food assistance in addition to our lunches, there are many food pantries in Carroll County. Open Hands Ministry serves people who have a Carrollton address or who are in the Central school district. Open Hands Ministry is located at 505 Newnan Street and is open for assistance every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. Requests for financial assistance may be made on the 1st or 3rd Wednesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Directions: Go east from the square in Carrollton (toward Villa Rica). Open Hands is on the right just past the White Street traffic light. The Bowdon Area United Christian Ministries serves people who have Bowdon addresses or who have children in the Bowdon schools. There are other food pantries located throughout Carroll County.

Our one fundraiser, the Empty Bowls event, was held on Sunday, February 24 at the Ag Ed Center on Newnan Road. This year's event was supported by over 900 members of our community and raised over $26,000 for the Soup Kitchen! The efforts of Carol Boyd, the Artist Guild, and many, many volunteers make this event a success!
Donations of food may be delivered at 345 Beulah Church Road, Carrollton. Please call 770-214-5055 to be sure someone is at the Soup Kitchen to receive the food. We purchase much of our food from the Atlanta Food Bank, which allows us to greatly increase the purchasing power of monetary donations.
